Wow. What a wedding this was. Celeste and Clint were married at Glen Afric Country Lodge on what turned out to be one of the luckiest weather days ever. It had rained for days before and rained for days after the wedding and all morning all sorts of old wives tales and superstitions for keeping the rain away were put into use. We had brooms in trees, things were being done with salt and prayers were said. Well, something worked and we had a wonderful ceremony under a beautiful tree with wildlife surrounding us and beautiful cloud formations giving us some drama to the sky. After the ceremony, the newly-weds and I went off to get some absolutely spectacular shots with some of Africa’s most majestic gentle giants. It was such a special experience for everyone, me none the least. The creative shoot finished just in time as it then began to rain, but only for a few minutes before the clouds broke up again and gave us an African sunset to remember. What an unforgettably special day with this lovely couple.
I shot this gorgeous couple’s Ballito wedding a few weeks ago. My wife had gone to school with Tasha and with us moving down from JHB back to Durban, I needed to get a beach wedding into my portfolio so, even though Tasha and Jethro already had a photographer, they were more than happy to have a second person to cover their happy day. Plus, I hope it took a little pressure off Sam, their other photographer, who was very pregnant at the time. Here are my favourite images.
A little throwback to Jaclyn and Telmo’s wedding at The Rand Club. Such a beautiful venue for a beautiful couple. The venue has so many different rooms to shoot in, each with their own character. We even got access to the roof to give us some shots with Johannesburg city centre creating a beautiful backdrop.
In August I was honoured and privileged to act not just as best man to a truly great friend, but also as one of a collaboration of photographers shooting the wedding of Simon & Giya at Collisheen Estate, just outside Ballito. Giya is also a photographer and the plan was that she would call in her friends to all help shoot the day. My job, other than my best man duties, was to shoot the groom preparation, the styled shoot after the ceremony, and some shots from the reception. Well, what an eventful day it was. We woke up early to thunder, lighting and torrential rain. Luckily, by about 8:00 the rain had stopped and by 10:00 all the clouds had gone and the weather was perfect. After the ceremony and the obligatory congratulations to the beautiful couple, we went off to a little forested area next to a sugarcane field for the styled shoot. The weather was still perfect and we had beautiful afternoon sun to shoot in which really made for super images. Such a beautiful day for such a beautiful couple.
Last weekend I attended a wedding photography workshop hosted by an amazing couple, Janco and Carlien, from JCclick. It was an amazing experience and I have come away from the weekend with a new vision for my photography. Here are some of my shots from the styled shoot we did as part of the workshop.

In December last year, my brother-in-law, Myles, married the girl of his dreams. As their wedding gift from Gen and me, I shot their wedding for them. Here are a few of the images from that very special day. And what a great day it was. Family and friends came from far and wide to help them celebrate their union as husband and wife.
December in Johannesburg is hot. This particular December South Africa was experiencing a heat wave and drought of epic proportions. Johannesburg summer thunderstorms normally start in November and up till this day we had had one or two light showers but this was the day the rain decided to come down, and boy did it come down hard. Luckily we were able to get some great shots despite the weather not playing ball. Hope you like them.
