I have been popping up to the Kloof & Highway SPCA quite a lot recently to take photos of their rescue animals to try and help them get adopted. I also shot some images for Christmas cards for them so if you are still planning on buying some, please consider these as they need all the help raising funds that they can get. If you are considering getting an animal, please think about adopting instead of buying and animal. There are so many wonderful animals that need forever homes there that is really doesn’t make any sense to spend money on a pet. The Kloof & Highway SPCA also has wonderful grounds with a coffee shop and many, many second hand shops selling everything from clothes, jewellery and household items to books (fantastic second hand book shop) and vinyl records (huge selection). Theses shops are like treasure troves and, with a little patience and a little hunt around, you are sure to find something that grabs your eye. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram as they post new images of animals looking for homes regularly. Book a shoot with me for you and your furred, feathered or scaled family and 25% of my shoot fee will be donated to the Kloof & Highway SPCA.
The Fenn family lived up the hill from us when we lived in Greymont in JHB and often saw me shooting in our local park. One day they stopped me to enquire about a family shoot for themselves. Luckily they did it just in the nick of time as we moved down to Durban about two weeks after this shoot. It was the last family shoot I did in our park. Really miss that place and will miss seeing all the little faces growing up there.
I shot this gorgeous couple’s Ballito wedding a few weeks ago. My wife had gone to school with Tasha and with us moving down from JHB back to Durban, I needed to get a beach wedding into my portfolio so, even though Tasha and Jethro already had a photographer, they were more than happy to have a second person to cover their happy day. Plus, I hope it took a little pressure off Sam, their other photographer, who was very pregnant at the time. Here are my favourite images.
I recently shot an awards dinner for Only Realty at the aha Gateway Hotel. I had previously shot some portraits for them in Johannesburg and was very glad to hear that they had decided to hold their annual awards dinner in Durban this year as we had just moved back home here ourselves. What a fantastic, fun, evening with a lovely group of people. I love my clients.
